Understanding Caduceus Medical, What We Do
We are a Dubai-based first aid training company focused on quality training and equipment. |
Caduceus Medical, trading as Dubai First Aid, was born in 2014 by the owner and founder, William Sudell, who decided to open his own company after many years of working emergency medicine in hostile and remote areas. The idea to start a medical training company stems from his roots of being a paramedic for the last 27 years. Building on this experience and 15+ years of working in Dubai, the business has become a focused and driven entity able to deliver quality training from the basic level to lay-persons through to advance practitioners in medicine.
So where does the name Caduceus come from...... The caduceus is the traditional symbol of Hermes, and features two snakes winding around an often winged staff. It is often mistakenly used as a symbol of medicine instead of the Rod of Asclepius, especially in the United States. The two-snake caduceus design has ancient and consistent associations with trade, eloquence, trickery, and negotiation. Tangential association of the caduceus with medicine has occurred through the ages, where it was sometimes associated with alchemy and wisdom. The modern use of the caduceus as a symbol of medicine became established in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th century as a result of documented mistakes, misunderstandings and confusion. (Wikipedia) William's direct association with the symbol dates from his 10 years in the military service in South Africa as an Operational Medic for the South African Military Health Services (SAMHS) form 1991 until 2000. The caduceus symbol was worn by all ops medics. (Wikipedia) Thus, the name Caduceus Medical was born..................... |
